Description of the Program:

1. The One Month Catechetical Course is usually organized in November each year and lasts four full weeks. Two subjects are lectured per week and finished with exam (test).

2. Daily five lectures are delivered to the students (from Monday to Friday) from 8:30 to 12:45. Each Saturday is the examination day.

3. The medium of teaching is the Swahili language. All teachers are members of the Teaching Staff of the Institute. A majority of them are Tanzanians (native speakers) but also some missionaries who speak Swahili fluently.

4. Multipurpose hall serves as classroom (capacity until 250 participants).

The teaching of the Catholic Faith

Training: The idea is both to help Catholics to increase their knowledge of our faith and to encourage our teachers to develop the idea of assisting ordinary Catholics and give them an opportunity to teach people in Swahili.

(Type) A student gets a Certificate after he has completed the first year, but after completing the three-year cycle a Diploma.

Our goals are:

- To increase knowledge of the Christian faith among the people, especially the knowledge of the Bible as well as dogmatic, liturgical and moral teaching of the Church.

- To help Catechists to announce the Christian Faith in the various schools in the Dioceses of Tanzania with the proper teachings of the Church.

- To prepare intellectually future (lay) leaders in small communities.

- To give an intellectual conviction concerning the Catholic faith. It is important because of:

i. The strong Islam community in some dioceses and regions of Tanzania

ii. There are many other Christian denominations.
